A person possessing a true and sincere desire for something is very likely, with the help of Allah, to achieve it in the end. Perseverance is the constant companion of those who are successful.
With exam time upon us, our students right now are facing times of anxiety and stress. It is necessary for parents to keep close tabs on their children at this time and help them to get through these times successfully.
I direct the following advice to our students who are facing their exams:
First of all, you have to get a grip on the anxieties associated with your studies:
Zakaah is the most important pillar of Islam after Prayer. The word “Zakaah” means both ‘purification’ and ‘growth’; so, our possessions are purified by setting aside a proportion for those in need. The obligatory nature of Zakaah is firmly established in the Qur’an, the Sunnah, the consensus of the Prophet’s (sas) Companions and the Muslim scholars.
One of the most important principles of Islam is that all things belong to Allah, and that wealth is therefore held by human beings in trust. Allah also has set limits and restrictions on how to dispose of our wealth in order to strike a balance in the Muslim society. Allah Almighty promised those who fulfill this duty a great reward in this world and the Hereafter, and whosoever doesn’t fulfill it is sternly warned of the grave consequences.
The Prophet(sas) had a very soft heart. He treated people gently. His wives(ra) said that they could not recall an incident where he(sas) scolded them harshly or hit them. He(sas) was known for his gentleness.
Allah confirmed that this quality is an essential quality. Allah Says (what means): "So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]." [Qur’an 3:159]
What strikes your mind when someone mentions worship? Most people would answer a ritualistic act performed in a prescribed place in a set manner, or something along those lines.
In Islam, every act done in day-to-day life is considered as worship if done in accordance to the ways prescribed by God (Allah). Eating, an act done to fulfill physical needs, is considered as a form of worship when done in the way prescribed by Allah and Prophet Muhammad (sas) with the proper intention.
“Our religious adherance should be our pleasure. We should be happy with it. it is just like when the Prophet (sas) asked to Bilal to make the call to prayer, saying: " Give us our relaxation in prayer, o Bilal." A correct understanding of the religion makes it like that.
